Why does chin hair keep growing back?
Chin hair can appear more stubborn than other facial hair. There is a reason for this: hair on the body and face can be categorised into two groups: Vellus hairs, which are a light-coloured and delicate down, and terminal hairs, which grow darker, thicker and longer. The face is covered with vellus hair. But sometimes vellus hair can turn into terminal hair under hormonal influence. The trigger is usually testosterone.
Hair growth takes place where the hair follicles are concentrated, such as on the chin. Some follicles have a particularly low threshold for testosterone, so hair keeps reappearing in the same place. You may be fighting the same hair each time or a hair from a nearby follicle.
